-- Toyota is recalling
662,178 MY 2003-2004
Corolla, Corolla Matrix and
Pontiac Vibe vehicles
equipped with power windows.
The driver and front
passenger door glass bolts
may loosen and come off,
causing the door glass to
separate from the window
regulator. Due to the
components becoming loose
and possibly rattling, an
abnormal noise may be heard
from the driver and/or front
passenger door when
operating the power windows.
The door glass may separate
from the window regulator,
bind and shatter during
operation of the power
windows, causing driver
distraction and/or injury.
Dealers will replace the
driver and front passenger
door glass bolts with newly
designed bolts free of
charge. The recall is
expected to begin during May
2008. Owners may contact

This recall was the subject
of an Engineering Analysis,
EA08-004, conducted by the
Office of Defects

-- GM is recalling
207,542 MY 1997-2003 Buick
Regal and Pontiac Grand Prix
vehicles equipped with a
3.8L supercharged V-6
engine. Engine oil can leak
from the valve cover and can
migrate during maneuvers
such as hard braking. If the
oil reaches the hot exhaust
manifold, it may ignite
causing an underhood fire.
Until sufficient parts
become available to repair
all of the affected
vehicles, GM strongly
recommends that owners
observe the following
important precautions: (1)
they strongly recommend that
owners do not park their
vehicle in a garage, car
port, or other structure;
(2) if owners notice a
burning odor, they should
have their dealer inspect
the vehicle. The dealer will
inspect the vehicle without
charge; (3) use premium fuel
(91 octane or higher) in the
vehicle as recommended in
the vehicle's owner manual.

DECEMBER 2007 -- GM is recalling 275,936 MY
2005-2007 Cadillac CTS, SRX, STS, MY 2006-2007 Pontiac Solstice,
and MY 2007 Saturn Sky passenger vehicles. The rear axle pinion
seal does not meet all of the specifications and may experience
a fluid leak. A rear differential failure may cause loss of
motive power and possibly loss of vehicle control increasing the
risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the pinion seal. The
recall is expected to begin during February 2008. 07V-589
OCTOBER
2007 -- GM is recalling 57,100 MY 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac
Torrent passenger vehicles not equipped with optional roof rail
airbags or optional sunroof. These vehicles fail to comply with
the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No.
201, "Occupant Protection in Interior Impact." During NHTSA
impact tests, the interior occupant protection test points
exceeded the standard requirements. The results of this test
indicated a possibility of an increased risk of head injury in a
crash. Dealers will install an energy absorbing foam piece to
each of the a-pillar trim assemblies. The recall is expected to
begin during January 2008. 07V-520
SEPTEMBER 2007 -- GM is recalling 531 MY 2008
Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky passenger vehicles for failing
to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety
Standard No. 207, "Seating Systems." and Standard No. 210, "Seat
Belt Assembly Anchorages." These vehicles may have one to four
inboard seat stud fasteners that do not meet strength
specification. In the event of a crash, the seat and seat belt
assembly may not restrain the occupant as intended and could
result in injury to the occupant. Dealers will inspect the
inboard seat studs and, if necessary, remove the stud and
install a bolt. The recall is expected to begin on or about
October 10, 2007. 07V-454

2007 -- GM is recalling 437 MY 2007
Chevrolet Equinox and Pontiac Torrent sport utility vehicles for
failing to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard No. 208, "Occupant Crash Protection." In these
vehicles, the right front passenger seat is built with a
passenger sensing system. When tested with a representative
unrestrained small adult, the system is required to turn the
right front passenger's frontal airbag on. An error in the seat
sensor calibration can cause it to fail this test. In addition,
this condition can prevent the airbag from turning off when the
seat is occupied by a small child. Whenever the front passenger
seat is occupied, the driver should always check the airbag
indicator to see if the airbag is on or off. If it is not
correct for the situation, the passenger should be moved to a
different seat. This can increase the risk of injury to a seat
occupant during certain crash conditions. Dealers will reprogram
the seat's electronic control unit. The manufacturer has not yet
provided an owner notification schedule for this campaign.

WASHINGTON - April 10, 2008 -Associated Press-
General Motors Corp. is recalling 122,593 Pontiac Vibe passenger
cars in the United States to fix bolts in the power window
system that can become loose and lead to the window shattering.
Details of the recall were released Thursday. It's similar to a
recall of more than 500,000 2003-2004 model year Toyota Corolla
and Matrix vehicles announced Wednesday.
The vehicles share a common platform and are built in a
GM-Toyota joint venture in Fremont, Calif.
GM says it received 107 complaints of glass breaking and 11
reports of minor injuries. There have been no crashes reported.
The GM recall involves 2003-2004 model year Vibe vehicles with
power windows.
DETROIT (AP) -- March 14, 2008 --
General Motors Corp. is recalling 207,542 Buick Regal and
Pontiac Grand Prix sedans over a risk they could catch fire,
and warned their owners not to park the cars in garages until
they are fixed.
The automaker said Friday it is recalling the 1997-2003 Buick
Regal GS and Grand Prix GTP models with 3.8-liter supercharged
V-6 engines.
During hard braking, oil can leak from the engine onto the
exhaust manifold, and fires can start if the oil gets hot
enough, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said
on its Web site. GM spokeswoman ..... said the problem has
caused 267 vehicle fires and six injuries, five of them minor
and one moderate. It also has caused 17 fires in structures, GM
said.
The NHTSA said that if the exhaust manifold is hot enough and
the oil gets below a heat shield, "it may ignite into a small
flame and in some cases fire may spread to the plastic spark
plug wire channel."
GM sports cars under investigation
GM spokeswoman said GM sent
letters to the owners on Thursday telling them the vehicles are
safe to drive, but they should not be parked in garages or
carports until the problem is repaired.
The automaker is working with suppliers to get the parts to fix
the problem, and owners will be notified as soon as the parts
are available, GM spokeswoman said. She did not know how long it
would take to get the parts but said it would be soon.
If owners smell burning, they should take their car to a
dealership for inspection, she said. "Consumers can always
can go to their dealership if they do smell something and are
concerned," she said. They also should run premium 91
octane fuel, which is recommended for the cars, she said.
"Lower octane fuel increases under-hood temperatures during
operation," GM spokeswoman said. GM spokeswoman said there
are "very, very low incidences of vehicles actually catching
fire while driving
